I plan to start exploring another town in two weeks so I will definitely give you an update on that trip.

But I want to share an experience that I had that is all too familiar in SMA.

I wrote about it on Facebook, but I wanted to expound on it a bit.

The world is getting more polarized, sadly.  I went to a beautiful new nursery last week.  It was outstanding, you know the kind that makes you smile when you approach the lot, also a little apprehensive because you know you will spend  too much money, lol.

As I was walking down the aisle, mesmerized, with the sales lady, two approaching expats approached, trying to avoid any eye contact, and the sales lady genuinely shared, "good morning, how can I help you"?  Nada!  No response to this sweet lady. I was immediately embarrassed because I know that happens frequently here.

We are in historical times, meaning all the deportations, etc.  I am sure the people here have a great deal of questions about what is going on, and how can so many expats be HERE?  I hear rumblings about the expats being here, and it makes me nervous

But can't we just step out of whatever keeps us isolated and try to be kinder, acknowledge people, and share  a smile or an "Hola"?

I have seen these same people in the states , definitely.  We have become so insular that we have forgotten to be amazing citizens of this planet.  We share the same sun and moon, and just because we might have a bit more money, doesn't mean we are not all the same.  Remember what I have said from my ICU nursing days, we all die the same way, the heart stops and we close our eyes.

I ask you to consider this request, not just in Mexico, but in all the world. The world is hard enough, don't forget to at least be pleasant to the person on the street or in the nursery.  It costs you nothing and it is a privilege to be alive!
