Every man that I spoke to when I mentioned going to Tennessee asked if we were going to the Jack Daniels Distillery.  Of course we had to go!  My husband enjoys about 4-5 Manhattans per year and so it was inevitable that we would make the trek.  It is sold worldwide only from Lynchburg. If you get a chance to ever go there, even if you don't like whiskey, do it.  The process of mixing the corn and rye, mash,  together in the tubs that contain the aging formula are 10 ft deep.  After they are soaked in the tubs, they are put in barrels that are individually built, used once and discarded to be sold to wineries, overseas, etc.  The barrels are built on sight with white oak. The aging process is minimum 4 years.  Of note, JD is a whiskey not a bourbon, as it has an additional step of charcoal mellowing.

Cost $20 and very worthwhile.
